The Cio forum met for the second time in VST on 26th November 2005. This picture was taken in the plush gardens of VST . In spite of the factory being in the heart of the city and the not encouraging environment the gardens and the greenery being maintained by their own waters after the affluent treatment shows the concern of the VST management of the concern of the environment and pollution control efforts.
The forums meeting at VST in the heart of the city was a very invigorating session. The board room of VST was a swell place to have an excellent lecture by Shri Ratnakar CIO - VST. Shri Ratnakar had given a very graphical picture of the path VST's Computer group has undergone in the past 20 years leading to the latest developments of implementation of ERP. The highlight of Shri Ratnakar's lecture was an in depth study on the subject 'Out Sourcing' and VST's experience on the subject. The visit included a tour of the manufacturing facilities of VST. The final cigarette manufacturing machine was a big draw. the meeting concluded with a dinner at the VST's guest house where the members continued with the discussions on various topics over a cocktail. formday After a period of more than a year of lull the CIO FORUM decided to meet on a very regular basis to have a good discussion forum on the various issues pertaining to Information systems. The group met at the conference hall of FMC on 16th October 2005 to chalk out a plan and implement the same in meeting the exacting demands of the IT industry and the issues to be reolved for a CIO. Shri K Chandrasekhar who took the lead introduced all the members to the others. It was rather a real surprise that issues unsurmountable for some industries dont seem to effect others. The members shared their initial experiences deciding to further strenghten the group with regular periodic meetings. The meeting concluded with a dinner after the members enjoyed the cocktail and the excellent food.
